Kingcome Jet Boat AdventureDeparting daily from Alder Bay, we head out across Johnstone Strait by covered water taxi into the labyrinth of the Broughton Archipelago up the far reaches of Kingcome Inlet to the mouth of the mighty Kingcome River. At a small dock on the estuary we transfer boats into an open jet boat skippered by the highly experienced crew from Kingcome Raven Adventures which is owned and operated by Thomas Moon and Hema Willie. Our guides are Musgamagw Dzawada’enuwx Indigenous stewards who have spent their entire lives navigating this pristine river based out of their home village of Kingcome located just a few short miles upriver. Aside from experiencing the excitement and sheer beauty of the trip up into the furthest and remotest reaches of the river, we will benefit from the humble wisdom of our guides who know every eddy, every rapid and every turn of the river and enjoy sharing the magic of their home with us for the day. Our day is part Indigenous cultural immersion and part thrilling jet-boat adventure offering visitors an extremely rare opportunity to venture further into the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest than even most locals do! On the return journey downriver we’ll make a short stop in Kingcome village to learn more about the past, present and future of the Dzawada̱ʼenux̱w First Nation.
En route to Kingcome crossing Johnstone Strait we will keep our eyes out for Humpback Whales, Dall’s Porpoise, Orca, Stellar Sea Lions and Pacific White Sided Dolphins. Once headed upriver we will keep a lookout for a glimpse of one of the mighty grizzly who inhabit the Kingcome valley.
